Spring in Madrid

Spring is a very special time of the year. Finally we can leave the busy and difficult months of winter, and we start to enjoy the city’s streets, terraces, and walks. The period when the parks start to flourish and the streets are filled with colours.

To live spring in Madrid is to enjoy that burst of colour and life. The neighbourhoods are filled with laughter, joy, people enjoying the city’s charms and the thousands of terraces we can find.
If you want to take part in this experience, don’t think more and plan your getaway to Madrid.

Plan your getaway to Madrid this spring

You don’t need an excuse to come and spend a couple of days in the city. If there’s a time of year that merits a special attention, that’s spring.

If you’re planning on coming, we suggest a couple of plans you’ll surely love.

A walk through Madrid’s parks. What a better plan than to start your getaway with a walk through the greenest corners of the city.
oPlaza de Oriente Gardens. Located just next to the Royal Palace, these gardens stand out for their elegance and geometric forms that enhance the Palace’s beauty.
oSabatini Gardens. They are located in the northern part of the Royal Palace, and they also have a geometric design. It has a beautiful central pond surrounded by fountains and trees.
oPlaza de España Gardens. Located right in the centre of the city, the Plaza de España Garden is a natural meeting point in the city. In addition to the wide green areas and places to walk around, this park is situated in the center of many commercial streets. The perfect setting to rest after a long shopping day.
oTemplo de Debod Park. This park, close to Plaza de España, was built to adorn the Debod Temple, right in the middle. This temple was a gift from Egypt to Spain and was moved to Madrid and rebuilt stone by stone. It’s possible one of the best sunsets you can enjoy in Madrid.
oRetiro Park. An icon in the city, one of the most important “lungs” of Madrid and the point of encounter of a wide variety of people and activities. In its 125 hectares you will be able to nature, and historical elements such as The Cristal Palace, an impressive construction built in 1887 with glass and metal and first created to be a greenhouse; the Velazquez Palace, constructed for the National Mining Exhibit and that nowadays holds several exhibits, and you can also soak in Madrid’s sun in the Estanque Grande’s stairways.

Enjoying the city’s terraces. Madrid’s squares in spring are filled with people that want to enjoy the good weather and ambiance of the Spanish capital. There’s a wide variety of terraces we can visit in the centre, in Chueca, La Latina or Gran Vía areas for example.
oThe Círculo de Bellas Artes Rooftop. In the seventh floor of the Fine Arts building, this rooftop has some of the most impressive views to Gran Vía and Madrid.
oRooftop at Gran Vía Capital. Also with views to Gran Vía, the rooftop at Gran Vía Capital is the perfect place to unwind and relax.
oThe San Antón Market’s rooftop. Located in the third level of the market, it has a nice restaurant and a cocktail bar.

Shopping in Madrid. Between walk and walk, you can use the time to shop around the many stores in the centre. Between Gran Vía, Sol and Preciados, you will find one of the many shopping areas in Madrid. From traditional shops to more modern concepts and shopping centres. This area has about everything you may need, and it’s perfectly connected by public transport. However, going shopping around Madrid in spring is a true luxury as the weather is very nice and lets you enjoy a very nice walk whilst we finish with all our shopping.
