We started a thread of two posts about Plans for free in Madrid I. Madrid is a large city. One of the greatest European capital. As such, it’s a metropolis that offers almost unlimited leisure and entertainment options, In this sense, and even if you don’t think so, there’s a wide variety of free things to do in Madrid, to have a great day without having to spend a single euro. Today, in the first part of our post, we would like to tell you about some of them.

Plans for free in Madrid

The city puts to your disposal amazing free leisure plans for you. Today we would like to show you some of the most important ones.

  • Visiting free museums in Madrid: There’s a great number of free museums or galleries that are at least free certain days or in determined moments. In the art field, or in other areas, there are several museums, galleries and exhibition halls you can enjoy completely for free.
  • Astonishing sunsets: Madrid counts with a series of renowned places to enjoy sunsets that will leave you speechless. One of the best is in Templo de Debod.
  • Visit the Cristal Palace: Make the most out of your visit to the Retiro Park and go to see the Cristal Palace. This beautifully built iron and glass structure was inaugurated in 1887. Currently its one of the sites of the Reina Sofía Museum, where you will be able to see some noted works, in an original and relaxing setting, without having to pay a dime.
  • Muslim remains: Many people don’t know that we have Muslim archaeological remains in Madrid. We recommend you visit the remainder of the Muslim city wall (declared historical-artistical monument in 1954). The best conserved part is located in Cuesta de la Vega.

Botanic Garden in Atocha’s Staion: The greenhouse in the Atocha station is a beautiful botanic garden with tropical and subtropical plants and species. In the approximately 4, 200 square meters you will find over 260 species of different plants and trees.
